7 Ways Rooibos Tea Helps Diabetics

Have you heard of Rooibos or Redbush tea? It’s one of the latest health treasures that many people are talking about. Rooibos has had a long history of traditional use in South Africa. There the people will think nothing of drinking it daily – and staying free of diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure.

1. Rooibos tea quenches free radicals in your body.

Free radicals are a diabetic’s worst enemy. They age every part of the body they come into contact with.

They also contribute to infections. Free radicals also speed up the degeneration in your organs, such as the kidneys, blood vessels, eyes, heart, and liver. These organs are especially important for diabetics because they are the primary organs attacked secondarily in diabetes. Rooibos blocks the formation of free radicals.

2. Rooibos tea combats obesity.

One South African study found that rooibos tea inhibited the formation of fat cells and clearly disrupted fat cell metabolism.  Although this study was an animal study, one of the reasons why people in the U.S. and Europe drink the tea is to stay slim and trim.

Rooibos tea works by decreasing cortisol and other adrenal gland stress hormone levels by up to 5.5 times.

6. Rooibos tea provides support for the heart.

In one study, rooibos tea significantly improved aortic output after heart damage in animals. The improvement was found to be better than that of green tea.

In another study, heart cells were protected from dying when rooibos tea was consumed.  And in yet another study, rooibos tea prevented platelet aggregation (blood clots) from occurring, which can cause a heart attack.

This is great news for diabetics who must protect their heart at all costs. Look out, green tea – you now have a competitor for breakfast beverage substitutes for coffee.

7. Rooibos tea lowers blood sugar levels.

At this time, everyone is using cinnamon, bitter melon and other herbs to lower blood sugar levels. They haven’t found rooibos tea yet. You’ll be among the first!
