Below are some frozen dessert recipes you can make that will keep your taste buds satisfied through the dog days of summer. You’ll need a piece of kitchen equipment that can take frozen fruit and convert it into a soft-serve-style dessert. You can use your fruit and vegetable juicer or a new kitchen gadget called Yonanas.

Raspberry Lemon Cake Dessert

This dessert is an extra special dessert that could be a healthier substitute for birthday cake. Pound cake has a low glycemic index and is even suitable for diabetics to have as a treat.

Serving size: one dessert dish

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients:

  • 3 frozen bananas
  • 2 cups raspberries, frozen
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • Pound cake
  • Sugar-free raspberry preserves

Directions:

  1. Run the bananas, followed by raspberries through your Yonanas machine or another device that makes soft serve out of fruit. Collect the soft serve in a bowl.
  2. Add your zests and mix.
  3. Next line four small dessert dishes with a ¼ inch slice of pound cake.
  4. Add the soft serve. Then add a tablespoon of sugar-free raspberry preserves.
  5. Add another layer of pound cake.
  6. Then add more soft serve and top with fresh raspberries.

Chocolate Raspberry Dessert

Chocolate and raspberry go together like a hand in a glove. The flavors mingle so well that you’ll feel as if you’re in a heaven where chocolate is food for the gods.

Serving size: ½ cup

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 2 cups raspberries, frozen
  • 1-ounce dark chocolate bar with almonds, shaved or broken into bits
  • Juice from half a lemon

Directions:

  1. In your Yonanas machine, run through half a banana and then ½ cup raspberries, collecting the mixture into a medium-sized bowl.
  2. Then add one-fourth of the chocolate bar shavings.
  3. Repeat the process three more times.
  4. Sprinkle with juice from half a lemon.
  5. Serve.

Papaya Lime Strawberry Nut Frozen Dessert

Papaya is known for its ability to improve digestion. Papaya enzymes are often found in digestive formulas on the market. Lime contains anti-cancer medicinal components and strawberries are high in the antioxidant vitamin C, a good anti-aging vitamin.

Yield: 4 or more servings

Ingredients:

  • 1 papaya, seeds removed, cubed and frozen
  • 3 cups strawberries, frozen
  • 2 bananas, frozen
  • Juice of one lime
  • 2 tablespoons chopped almonds or walnuts

Directions:

  1. In your Yonanas machine, run through one cup papaya, ¾ cup strawberries, and ½ banana, catching the soft serve in a medium-sized bowl.
  2. Repeat the process three more times.
  3. Dish up into 4 to 6 dessert cups.
  4. Sprinkle nuts on top.
  5. Sprinkle lime juice on top.
  6. Refreeze if guests will come later.
